ORIGIN OF VINES
The above mentioned grape varieties are local regional types, cultivated exclusively in Valle d'Aosta. The first mentionings found in written go back to the beginning of 1800.
CULTIVATION AREA
Grapes derive mainly from the vineyards located in the areas of Quart, Saint-Christophe, Aosta, Sarre and Villeneuve, on the left side of the river Dora Baltea.
COLOUR
Violet red, tending to ruby once bottled.
AROMA
Intense, full and slightly spicy; once bottled it obtains typical notes of almonds.
TASTE
soft and velvety, medium body and well balanced.
SERVING RECOMMENDATIONS
Typical salami types, white and red meat, local cheese of medium maturing (Toma and Fontina).
